Assets e.g. the total amount (in Canadian dollars) of fixed or time deposits, savings accounts, pensions, bank certification letter etc.

Gold (not jewelry) is acceptable.

I submitted my POF as gold coin, i had less cash in bank, I took the pictures attached with receipt which was hand written, for valuation I print the current gold rates from Internet and attached it also.

I already got my visa.

My Visa office was London, hope this helps.

Hi ,
In one of the accounts I am going to show as my POFs; has me and my mother-in-law as joint account holders. So both of us are primary account holders.
Is that acceptable ?

@ asifmehmood I dont think Gold is acceptable as it is said so in the rules page as far as i remember reading it.
Did you just get lucky ?? :)

Simple savings account would do. All CIC wants is that the funds should be transferable without any problem. So, you cant have gold.

No - accounts in a joint name cannot be used as proof of funds. The only exception being accounts held in a joint name with an accompanying spouse.

So accounts which are jointly in yours and your mother-in-laws name cannot be used. How can CIC possibly tell which portion of that belongs to you and which portion of that belongs to your mother-in-law?

To use this money as POF you will need to transfer it into an account solely in your name. Also when presenting the proof show the previous account showing it in joint names, and then a signed letter from your mother stating that this portion of the money is yours.

Hmm...Thanks for the reply ! I am looking for a work around....because the money is in FD and I have simply added my name to the account.
