Good morning everyone. I searched the forum to try and find an answer to my question but still there are some grey areas concerning what I can do about the proof of funds. Long story short we got our ITA 3 days ago and we had nearly all our documents ready except for the proof of funds. I live in Lebanon and for those of you who know we are in the middle of a huge politico-economical crisis. I was supposed to get a gift from my father with the amount we needed. Of course a gift of deed and affidavit were discussed and agreed upon except that due to the crisis banks aren't allowing any movement of deposited money until the deadline is met which would be to late for me to apply then. We thought of opening a bank account directly in Canada to avoid any more trouble but to my knowledge and research this is quite impossible. Should I decline the invitation and wait until the deadline is met? or would a gift deed and affidavit with a bank note suffice? Thank you in advance for your answers.

You need to have the funds at the time you receive ITA. To the best of my knowledge, your only option is to decline ITA. Once you have the funds arranged and in your name, you can accept a new ITA.

Thank you for your response

Are gift deed funds supposed to be in the applicant's account?

Yes they are. But the bank won't allow the transfer from my fathers account to mine until 3 rd feb and I have to 26 january to file the ITA. We are trying to explain the situation to the bank and waiting fot their answer but you know how banks work. Should I decline and accept the next invitation if they don't accept to transfer before. NB we have a score of 504 points.

Hi I'm Lebanese as well, and I managed to open a bank account in Canada without having any Canadian documents, simply because I deal with HSBC. so HSBC UAE helped me open the account in Canada, I did that about 2 years ago. just an idea, not sure if that helps.
