Hi guys,

As of 1st Dec 2011, all the applications needs to be sent to the CIO in Sydney, Nova Scotia, that is what was advised to my an officer at MPNP earlier this week. I have applied under family stream and received my nomination on 15th November 2011, dated 31 October 2011.

As per the new document checklist that needs to be sent to CIO, it does not say anything about submitting the following two documents:

- Proof of Funds
- Proof of Relation

I have been inquiring about it to quite a lot of people and no one seems to know the right answer, but the document checklist also says that we need to submit only the documents that are mentioned on the checklist and any additional documents would be disregarded and the application may be returned.

Also, after sending the documents across to CIO, do they send the documents across to the concerned visa office in our country or do we have to gather documents again and then send it to the local visa office again?

These fluctuating rules and updates are really driving me crazy. I hope someone can help me out on this one. Cheers

Hi,

Always follow the instructions what is there on the respective guide and checklist. If you have a doubt regarding any requirement shown on the guide/check list, then ask others. Otherwise you will get confused.

Hi wilson,

so does that mean, we dont have to put the proof of funds along with the new document checklist that needs to be sent to CIO ? If that is the case, do you once the documents are transferred to CIC New Delhi from CIO, then they would request for the documents? looking forward to hearing from you soon. Cheers

Hi manubobby,

In your case I think you might have already submitted the required information while applying for Provincial nomination such as:

1.Settlement funds: Applicants should have at least C$10,000 plus C$2,000 for each accompanying dependant. (If you don't have enough money you may apply with the support of your close relative, as explained below.)

2.Who is a close relative and what must they do for you to apply under the Family Support stream?

Your nomination package should include instructions on how to apply for your permanent resident visa at the visa office. Follow that one.

Hope you are clear now. If you again submit the proof of funds and relation proof, there will not be any problem. If they don't need, CIO will trash it. The visa office will definitely ask you any additional or updates details if necessary.

Hi Wilson,

Yes when I applied under MPNP, I did show settlement funds and my close relative is my sister, she needs to fill a form called Manitoba Affidavit of Support, which she did where in she mentions she would help me settle in Manitoba in terms of helping me find a job and with food and accommodation, she is not sponsoring me financially, I am supporting myself. But, the question is, its not that I have a problem showing the funds, I have over $10000 CAD in my account equivalent, I am just wondering as to why the document checklist does not say anything about providing those documents, and on the cic website they have clearly mentioned that no additional documents should be sent that are not on the checklist. But, at the same time I see people talking about getting the documents showing proof of funds, which is what confuses me, anyways, I have decided I will be submitting only the documents as per the new check list and if they ask for additional documents showing proof of funds at later stage, then I can submit that. Thanks for your help wilson. Highly appreciated.. cheers

Hi manubpbby, you are welcome!. I am always at your above said point, that following the check list is the perfect method. Then you are always at the safe side. Best of luck!!

Does the settlement funds have to be in form of cheques or draft? Can we carry a little and show foriegn bank statements having equivalent Can Dollars?

Funds should be transferable and convertible currency for settlement in Canada. So it can also be in any major currency like US $, Pound sterling, Euro .......etc. These funds should be in applicant's bank account in a known financial institution in western Europe and north America and should provide current bank slip or evidence of savings balance or fixed or time deposit statements.
