Proof of Fund in Cash

I will be entering Canada for the first time on 8th July 2013. And I am expected to show 20,654 CAD (4 members) when entering. My wife and two children will be also accompanying me. Can I show proof of fund in CASH when I enter Canada ? So that I can use it when I am there or I have to wait to start a bank account and ...
