Is it really necessary for my spouse to provide a citizenship certificate, when my husband can provide his Canadian Birth certificate and Canadian passport?
According to the document checklist (Sponsor), my husband could provide EITHER a photocopy of a Canadian Birth certificate, passport or citizenship card for proof of citizenship. He was born and raised in Canada.
But according to the region-specific document checklist (Immigrant), a photocopy of citizenship certificate for any family member who is a Canadian citizen is required.
I have researched on how to aquire a citizenship certificate, and it takes about 5 months or so, is it really necessary to include this in the application?

I've never heard of that requirement. Which region specific guide are you looking at? Inland or outland application?

EDIT: Hmmm, I see. It's in the West Europe forms, I used those. I think they mean this for family members other than the sponsor. We didn't include it and it was fine.

we sent just a copy of birth certificate and passport

@Suin and Mitamata: Thanks for the information. That was very helpful.
