Hello,

In form 5533, on page 8 I should provide documents from 2 sets of documents.

- Proof of joint ownership
- Rental Agreement with both names
- Joint Utility accounts
- Vehicle Insurance
- Copies of gov't ID
- Other documents

We are living in an apartment owned by my wife's mother, so we don't have a rental agreement (and obviously don't own it). Also, we don't have any joint utility accounts, and don't own a car. Am I able to provide a written letter from her mother, explaining that we are living in her apartment, and use that as the 'rental agreement'?

We both have a registration stamp in our passports (her Russian passport, and my Canadian passport, since I am a temporary resident here). Can I include this as the 'Government ID'?

Edit:

Another question.

My wife used to work for an insurance company. While working for them, she made insurance for me. It has since expired. Would this be possible to use? It would have her name as the person who made it, so I am not sure if it will be seen as 'suspect'.

They want you to show documents/information that proves you have the same address. So, your passports won't help because they don't have your address on them. Same with the insurance, unless it was joint insurance with both of your names and the same residential address. You need to try to find as much evidence as you can demonstrating you live together. I guess stuff like deliveries made in your name to the same address and deliveries made in her name to the same address. Others might have some other suggestions but it doesn't sound very convincing if all you have is a letter from your wife's mother.

The address registration in Russia is inserted in the passport (internal passport for nationals, might be a stamp or slip of paper in the foreign passport, don't know right now).
