Hello,

I'm a French doctor sponsored by a hospital in Quebec for employment. I arrived in Canada March 19th on a temporary work permit. I began my work trial period April 1st and completed it successfully July 1st, receiving authorization from the board of medicine in Quebec to practice medicine here without restraints. They are going to mail my license within the next few days. This license, however, has nothing to do with immigration.

Back in the end of May, I applied to Canadian immigration for prolongation of my temporary work permit so that I could be able to stay in Canada after the conclusion of my work trial period while I waited for the board of medicine to deliver my license. As it turns out, this was a huge mistake.

My request for prolongation came in today rejected. They say that I was missing a certain piece of information (employment offer number) which I absolutely wasn't. I included this information in my file as its own document which was titled: EMPLOYMENT OFFER NUMBER (only in French). So clearly the agent did not thoroughly review my file and missed the fact that I had included this information that he claims was missing.

I'm pretty lost and alone in this process...until I discovered this forum. Do you have any advice for me in this situation?

You'll need to stop working since you no longer hold a valid work permit. You won't be able to start working again until you have a valid work permit.

You can try submitting a case specific inquiry to the visa office that processed your application to indicate that the employee offer number was in fact included in the application and to request that they reopen and reconsider your application.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to apply to restore your status and also apply for a new work permit.
