Hi,

My study permit has been approved already, and I am still outside Canada. The university has offered me to change the masters program into a combined program which extends the program duration from 12 months to 16 months. Does it make any issues at the port of entry ? since I have a new LOA and the program is longer.

I am seeking your help, and looking for a definitive answer.

Thanks.

They don't care about a program change - take it from me. Just make sure to have both your old & new acceptance letters in case the CBSA officer asks to see them. Also make sure to make hard copies of all your documents just to be safe.

I really appreciate your reply.
I’ve seen many threads stating that it doesn’t matter since the program dates are the same and within the same DLI, but what if the end of program date is gonna change ? Don’t you think it might raise their concern ? I tried to contact IRCC regarding my matter, but there was no response.

According to the IRCC, if the start date of your new program/deferred enrolment is 180 days far from the one you used in your study permit application, then you should contact them by a web form. Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

If your new program ends later than the expiry of your SP, just apply for an extension 3 months before it expires.

If you are changing program within the same DLI, you have nothing to worry about. Just show your new LOA to border officer...

Hello Everyone,
I already have a valid student visa from Sept'21 to Aug'22.
Though, my intake has been deferred from Fall'21 to Winter'22 and the program has also been changed from PGDM Marketing to PGDM HRM. The duration is also changed from 12 months to 16 months as there would be summer break in this program. Do I need to inform IRCC/ reapply the visa?
The DLI remains the same.

Really look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.

You don't need to reapply for your visa. Since your deferral is also less than 150 days, you don't really need to inform IRCC, but I suggest you do so, because you will need an extension on your visa and SP shortly after you land.

I am experiencing the same situation as you. Was there any difficulties?
