Program Change from 2 year to 1year

Hello.

I am currently in Canada on a 2 year study permit, recently arrived one month ago.
The program i was accepted at starts in September, but i was wondering...
What would be the impact on changing from the current 2 year program im enrolled in to a one year program, since my study permit is for 2 years.
will i have to apply for a new study permit to correct the validity? or can i just continue with this study permit?

No you can keep the same study permit. Since it is the same school I don't even think you have to report the change of program online, The big issue is if you want PGWP. A one year PGWP will make it very difficult to get 1 year of work experience.
