I gave my biometrics on the 27th of October and my program starts on the 6th of January. On the government's website, it states applications from my home country, Egypt, are taking around 8 weeks to be processed as of this week.

The flight I booked is on the 31st of December. Have i completely screwed myself over? How accurate/reliable are the listed processing times? My application isn't confusing and is well organized with no major caveats.

Advice on how to handle this situation would be appreciated.

Times are estimates and most times take longer than posted. IRCC advises not to book tickets unless permit is approved. Nothing to do but wait.

Flight isn't that big of a deal. I can pay a small fee and have it rescheduled. Im more concerned about making it in time to start my studies.

Realistically January start date is very unlikely even if you get processing within 8 weeks which is unlikely from Egypt. Also assumes that you get approved. What program & school are you applying to? What is your education and work history? Age? How much savings can you show?

I'm attending MUN's bachelor of science program. I'm 19 and just graduated highschool, so no employment/educational history. The bank account I've shown has around 220,000 CAD after conversion from EGP & USD
