could anyone tell me what is the processing time for citizenship application in Canada? I would appreciate if you break down the timings for each step (avg. time).

21 months on Cic site if all goes normal and no RQ or security checks required.

The bottom line is it depends on which local office you belong to, whether you get RQ or not, etc. The whole process is very unpredictable right now since there were lots of changes in 2012.

Oops i just checked and really bad news ...i was expecting it to be 24 months by the time i apply in August 2013....And as expected it changed from 21 months to 23 months now and by August 2013 i expect it be somewhere between 24-30 months..... ???

It really does depend what offices you're dealing with. I'm still waiting (after about 14 months and a lost application) whereas a friend of mine had everything sent and done within 6 months.

These days 6 months is a dream .If your friend has applied recently somewhere in 2011/2012 then it should take atleast 12-18 months .
