Finally, after almost 2 months of waiting, I got my passport back.

Here is my timeline:

Paper Application
Mailed March 12 2013
Received at CPP - Ottawa on March 13 2013
Visa Stamped on April 5 2013
Passport mailed May 6 2013 (via regular mail)
Passport received May 9 2013.

Hi, I applied online for my TRV about 15 days ago and in myCIC account this is the message I got yesterday. What I am unsure about is if they want my original passport or scanned copy mailed to their office, or scanned copy uploaded to myCIC account (which i dont know how to do anymore). What is quite misleading is their choice of words(scanned copy, received at this office, upload)...so any help will be appreciated. I have up until May 13 for them to get it...so please help.

Not an expert on the online application process but from what I have seen and read in the past is that everyone is mailing their passport to CPP - Ottawa. If you decide to send it as well, make sure to attach prepaid Canada post xpresspost envelope along so they can return your passport using the envelope and then you can track the envelope.

I guess you can say that but to be on the safer side, I would recommend to apply two months in advance because I have not seen anyone waiting for their visa past 60 days.

Also, it is weird how they work. My visa got stamped on April 4th and it took them a full month to mail my passport (they mailed it on May 6 2013). So in other words, my passport was just sitting there for 32 days after it has gone through all the approval stages. Obviously I do not know the process they follow there but whatever it is, it just looks inefficient.

I saw that a bunch of people who has applied around the 13th of March received their passports last week. I have a travel planned on 1st June and hope the passport comes in by then. Have mailed CPP Ottawa the second time. Will see what they respond.
