Processing time for spousal sponsorship

Hi there,

My wife and I have just formally submitted our application for her to sponsor me for PR in Canada. I am a citizen of Pakistan and currently residing there. She is a Canadian citizen and just gave birth to our first child, who (of course) is also a Canadian citizen. They both reside in Canada.

In your experience, what are the timelines for sponsor approval, medical request, interview(if needed) and approval of PR? The IRCC website states that these types of applications (applying from inside Canada for spouse who is outside Canada) takes 12 months across the board, no matter where the spouse resides. Have you found this timeline to be accurate? Or does the country where the spouse resides change this timeframe somewhat?

I'm interested in everyone's experiences...

The London Visa Office handles applications from Pakistan.

You have misread the IRCC website. What it says is that the target is to have 80 percent of applications approved within a 12 month timeline. This is in no way a guarantee or promise that this will happen.

In December 2016 they streamlined the process to make the process easier and hopefully faster, but there is no guarantee for timeline. If you expect 12 months you're being realistic. Hope that helps.
