Processing Time for Residency Status Determination

Hello All,

I received Questionnaire: Determination of Permanent Residency Status (IMM 5511) in May 2016 and I sent back the complete form along with other supplementary documents to designated office in June. My application status on CIC website hasn't been changed for almost three months and no correspondence in this period either.

Is it normal? How long does it usually take for cases like mine? Any suggestions that I can make it faster?

Thank you for your reply. I just want to know is there a maximum processing time?

Also, can I abandon my application now and start a new one? If so, how long would it take?

Do not rely on the online status!!

I don't know but I am pretty sure that sending in a second applicaton (and abandon the first) will only result in a delay.

Call them if you feel like it's taken too long. There is also a form you can send in to ask for the status.

I received the questionaire in January 2016 and received a reply in march 2016 and had my interview last week, aug 2016 as I was out of the country otherwise i might have had the interview faster.
