Hi there,
Since the Buffalo canadian consulate site has the old information for Processing Fees in U.S dollars i.e $465 which should not be true as 1CAD = 1.28 US dollar, there 550 cad$ = 704 U.S Dollars.

My question is, should I convert Canadian dollars to U.S dollars with the exchange rate and send the money order to Canadian consulate?

thanks

Hi there,
check the following exchange rate converting site
http://www.xe.com/

1 cad = 1.23126 USD, therefore $550 cad * 1.23126 = 677.193
and that is what i guess I have to pay.

thanks

You don't convert. YOu pay the fees posted on their web site. http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/main/visas/fee_schedule_us_dollars-en.asp you may save or you may lose in the exchange.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I hope they don't return my application back to me stating that the fees is not equivalent to canadian dollar. On the other hand since it states on thier website about theU.S dollar, I will pay that amount.

thanks again

Hi Kanwar1,
I think u misunderstand some thing i think
1 USD = 1.23892 CAD,
therefore $550 cad / 1.23892 = 443.935 USD around 444 USD
Just check may be I m wrong.
Thanks and best regards.

Bank rates keep changing every day, please consult your bankers. Rates given by the fellow participants may be different when you visit your bank.

Please read the following
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/index.asp

rajadada , as PMM has pointed out you do not convert.
Whether you apply in US or anywhere else , the respective websites usually state the fee costs in both Canadian Dollar and their calculated local equivalents. eg CAD 550 or USD 465 , CAD 550 or AUD 550 etc
You must pay the CIC calculated local equivalent NOT what you think is the equivalent

Canadian dollar is lower than US dollar, so whenever you convert US $$ to Canadian, you will get more and vice versa. I guess you misunderstood and your calculations are not correct.

For example 1 US Dollar = 1.228 CANADIAN Dollar.

so 100 US = 100 X1.228 = 122.80 CAD - you do the math.

And PMM already mentioned, you don't need to calculate, you just pay what is there.

Hi Kanwar,

The BEST thing to do is go to the US postal service and get a canadian money order. I just learned about this. This way you can get it in Canadian dollars and do not have to worry about the conversion rate when cic encashes it.

Good Luck.
