Dear Members,

I have submitted my application for PR to CIC on march 31 2017. i have paid the RPRF fees on June 13 2017.
I wish to make a travel to the USA during mid-july to early august for around 20-25 days.
My question is if during this time, if the CIC asks me to submit passport to the local visa office, how am i going to travel? is there a way i can tell them that i will submit once i am back from my travel?
if the passport submission is asked any time sooner than my travel dates, then within how many days is the passport returned?
to cut it short:
1. Within how many days the CIC can ask for passport submission in my case?
2. Within how many days do they return the passport?
3. Will they entertain my plea to let me submit the passport once i am back from travel?

I am a born indian national and citizen and live in new delhi. i dont want my PR application is impacted due to my travel plans and also i would like to travel this summer.

Views invited please.

Regards

1. Generally, CIC gives 30 days to submit passport. But there are urgent cases who have to submit passport in 3 or 5 days time.

2. It depends on your visa office. It can take from a week to two months.

3. No. CIC won't compromise its service for your convenience.

that is pretty unfair, for i feel like stuck into a place ever since i moved this application. i have had to cancel my travel to canada in april. and now it seems i am going to have to cancel my travel to USA.

It's not unfair. CIC actually don't encourage big travel plans whilst PR application is in process.

but isn't that pretty legitimate for a person wanting to settle abroad, go visit it? a person is likely to move abroad when they have connections there.
what about for the ones who are married and going to see their spouses?
and what about the ones who have children settled abroad and wanting to see them?

Then a sacrifice comes into play.

What PR app are you applying for, anyway? Is it spousal? EE? PNP? Usually, if they ask you to pay the RPRF, then the process can be almost over for you.

I have applied under express entry on 31 march 2017. i didnt pay the RPRF fees then, they asked me to pay it on June 11 and i paid it on June 12.

My only worry is that i dont want to make all these bookings for travel which i cant cancel. also my friends and family will make arrangements for me. and if i dont go, it brings a lot of disappointment.

I understand where you're coming from. I hope your visa will be approved before your planned trip. However, you have to look at the possibility that it might take longer than expected. So plan wisely.

You can also address your concern by posting on the Express Entry forum. Good luck.
