Dear all,

CIC says that transcripts should only be in university sealed envelopes, but I have done my Graduation from Panjab University, Chandigarh and here they do not give u ANY documents but say that they will mail it directly to CIC separately, but how??? I don't have file number, so I will send my documents separately and university will send it separately??? This can be really worrisome, as so many things can go wrong here...

Next, I have given IELTS Academic on 10th April. Now I have all my docs ready on table. But im not able to file my case as CIC says that now u have to write IELTS General Training only!!! Now, I am confused, if I write GT I lose time to file my case, if I file my case on Academic IELTS and write IELTS GT later then where should I send my result and with what reference???

Kindly suggest and advise me on these two points...

Kunal

u have to sit for GT IELTS.
convince your university.show them the document checklist, and tell them that transcript has to be sent with the whole application, not seperately.

hey kunal

i too am in the same boat(regaring punjab univeristy transcripts)... what are you planning to do?

Hi Guys,
Please send your documents along with Academic IELTS with a cover letter stating that you would be taking the exam and sending the original later. Do not delay on sending the documents. You have taken a much higher IELTS exam that should not be a problem.

hi maaties! The new rule of CIC is that all applicants should choose GT IELTS. I dont know the reason why

See this and note the date:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t23328.0.html;msg133409#msg133409

and also look at what OP6 said from 2010-04-01
"Note: For the IELTS reading and writing tests, there are ‘General Training’ and ‘Academic’ options. CIC
only requires applicants to have their proficiency assessed by the ‘General Training’ test but will also
accept the results of the ‘Academic’ test. ."

So it may be that the wording hasn't changed from before Jun 26th. Of course, there is no guarantee that they would mean the above.

hmm..i m finding smthing similar to wat u r saying in the recent EG7 GUIDE..(page no. 9)

not sure about the older one!

I guess its upto each applicant to play it safe or take the risk. Hopefully someone applies with academic and tells the forum the result of his application or maybe the new OP6 will come out soon.

Out of date, note the OP 6 is dated 01/04/10 the instructions for FSW which state General only are dated 26/06/10. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

Hey PMM, those instructions from 26/06/10 (on the website) had the same wording pre-26/06/10 as can be seen by the link to Leon's posting. So even in 2009, they said only GT on the website but OP6 allowed for academic version. Wondering if they would allow academic version despite saying only GT on the website.

I noticed that too. Interestingly, Operational Bulletin 218 which advised Visa Offices about the changes from the June 26 Ministerial Instructions did not mention any changes to the IELTS types accepted so it seems it will remain a bit uncertain until OP-6 is updated with all the details.

kunalt2104 - there's no guarantee (as Maaties said above) but if you choose to send the application now with Academic IELTS results, consider sending an explanation quoting OP-6 (at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf) on p.4 showing they started accepting Academic IELTS as of 2010-04-01.
