Hello,

I'm wondering if someone can provide me with guidance or put my mind at ease.

I am in Canada helping a friend in Jamaica with a visitor visa.

We received a passport request letter to have her passport sent to the VAC. We prepared everything and intended to have it couriered to the VAC office in Kingston at 12 West Kings House.

For some reason that I do not understand, the post office sent the passport to the Canadian High Commission at 3 West Kings House Road instead.

I googled the High Commission and it seems like they also prepare passports, but it's still not the place where our passport was supposed to go.

I am wondering if the High Commission is still able to process, stamp and return her passport or if there is something I need to do on our end to get it to the VAC.

All the documents are in the package along with the passport. We paid for the return courier in advance and enclosed proof of payment for the VAC.

Our travel date is in a month so I'm worried this will delay things past our dates.

Hi, when I received my PPR I dropped it to the VAC in Kingston. The VAC ‘Vfsglobal’ updates you through email during the whole process. You can even track what’s going on online through vfsglobal. I’m not sure why it was sent over to the high commissions unless that’s the ‘IRCC office’ because that’s where mine went, according to the emails. I also paid for the courier return, in which the whole process of getting my passport stamped and delivered was a week, I think you should be fine before your travel plans. Good Luck and congratulations!

Thank you so much for offering your insight into this!

My anxiety is that we sent the the passport to the High Commission but we were instructed to send it to the VAC.

I was worried that the High Commission wouldn't know what to do with it. From what you are saying, it sounds like they have experience with passports, so hopefully they will be able to process it.

I'm trying to contact someone at the High Commission but they are much more difficult to reach than the VAC.
