Hi. I was just wondering what is the likelihood of getting an LMIA for a teaching position in a Primary/Elementary school in Canada? It seems as though from my research so far that it's quite difficult for a foreign national to secure employment as a Primary/Elementary Teacher.

Chances are zero. Canada has too many teachers and not enough teaching positions. So not possible to get an LMIA approved since there are plenty of Canadians to hire.

What is the right procedure to find a job in the education sector? I have an experience of 17 years in education and am moving to Brampton in December. How do I pursue a job as an elementary school teacher?

Cannot answer your specific question but getting a job in teaching in Ontario is not going to be easy given hundreds of teachers are being laid off and those that are not are looking at striking.

You would need to try and get licensed to teach in Ontario. You can look to see if a private school will hire you but most want a licensed teacher. If you can’t get licensed you’d have to return to attend teacher’s college which is a 2 year masters program. Ontario already had a surplus of teachers but recent cutbacks will make it even harder to get hired if you are able to get licensed as a teacher by the province.
