Previously been married question

I was previously married (in Canada, both Canadians), and the form asks when I was married from and to.
Do I put down the date the divorce was approved or the day we legally separated as is written in the divorce papers that were filed?

Even though you were separated you were still married. Put down the date the divorce was approved.
