Hello everyone,

I have a concern/confusion about this question. The last of country I resided in in the past 5 years for more than 6 months was Canada.
Now when asked for an immigration status in that country, there's a wide variety of options including "Other". My main concern is that I am a denied refugee claimant but at the same time due to my parent's decision, I overstayed 4 more years in Canada with no status before we left. Under the immigration status what would be the best option to place? Other or Refugee Claimant?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

I would consider breaking up your stay in Canada. For example:

May 2007 to June 2008 - Refugee Claimant
July 2008 to November 2011 - Other

Oh okay that makes sense but as for the part with "Other" that needs to be filled in with the current status I had at that time, will it be alright if I just place Illegal? Since within the last 5 years, the previous country I was residing in from 2007 to 2010 was Canada and then from mid 2010 til now I have been back in my home country. Therefore at that time that I was still in Canada within the 5 year range, I already had no status at all.

I would say "out of status" or "no status" rather than "illegal".
