Hello. I’m invited in BC PNP, and I’m preparing my application. One company I worked for as a coop student sold their office during the pandemic, and they don’t have a contact number.

I’m worried about if some officer tries to contact them, they would have to use email. Where should I explain this in my application? Does anyone have similar experiences?

thank you!

Any company should have a contact number if not general contact number a number for HR, owner, etc.

What exactly do you mean ,” sold “ their office ? Sold the physical building, and is now shut down ? Amalgamated? Change of control ? Dissolved ? Out of business?

The company has closed but the people are still there. If you had worked there for a while you would have contact of HR or manager or team head or any of your senior. Get hold of them and ask them you would be putting up their contact details for IRCC to verify.

You are not the first to have a company close so should not be a problem.

One option for addressing the situation with your former employer is to include a brief explanation in your resume or cover letter. You could explain that the company sold its office during the pandemic and no longer has a contact number, but that you can provide email communication with them as needed, paystub, or tax statement etc proof that you worked at that company. including even the offer letter etc.

Alternatively, you could include a note explaining the situation in your application form or in a separate document that you submit along with your application. It's important to be as honest and forthcoming as possible, as this will help the officer reviewing your application to understand your situation and make an informed decision.

Good luck

Per the posting , the office or company was sold, it did not close . It would still be a continuation of business otherwise known as change of control . The employees past employed, there employment records would just continue on with the new owners. If a company “ closed “, it technically would have dissolved its operations , and all assets would have been sold off , and operations discontinued
