Hello everyone,

I was thinking to share some ideas that I have in mind with you guys and create an avenue for everyone to come and share their thoughts. In this topic I would like to focus, and learn more about what is considered "the highest-ranked candidate (one with the best chances for economic success)". I will be applying for the Canadian Experience Class, so I am basically making myself eligible for that program.

Below is what I think a high-ranked candidate is. A high ranked candidate is one who has following (not necessarily all);

- Good IELTS score (what is good, 6 or 7?)
- Job offer
- One year Canadian job experience
- Membership in a professional organization
- Volunteer Council role for a non-profit organization

This is what my profile is. I thought I should share with you guys so that others can also learn and work on improving their career portfolios. Can someone please share and add to this list their ideas about what are the factors that make you to be considered as "Economically Successful"?

Thank you!

Depends on the program you're applying to. For CEC - read here:

At this point, I feel like the higher the better cause you might get ranked higher

The only thing I am concerned is Job Offer.My Husband has one year experience and we qualifu under CEC but the Job offer is a contract which is renewable after every 2 years.Will that be taken as well.Education is PHD around 9 years of experience in USA.

My guess is contract work would be placed better than temp work or no work, but lower than permanent term. But then a PhD might get him some extra points. If he's in the 50 NOC codes Alexander mentioned that would be even better. That's just my guess

Again, nobody knows who will get in or not at this point, we can only sort of guess which kind of candidate profile has a better priority.

And I don't know if it's still wise to gather things to apply for current CEC 2014...(as you mentioned you are qualified under CEC, but there's 1 month left)
