Hi I am currently in my first trimester and doing some research on pregancy care in Canada.
I am from Ireland and have a 2 year old little boy with my partner who is hopeing to get a employment in Alberta Canada. We will be going on a permanant visa. As I am very early on in my pregancy it is likely we will be heading over near my due date.
I need advise as weather to stay in Ireland have our baby and follow my partner over or go ahead and have our baby over in Canada.
If I was to have the baby in Canada what is the procedure will I be able to get cover with insurance or will we have to pay mad money??

Any information will be really appriciated :)

In AB, you will get health care as soon as you arrive if you are a PR because you are moving from overseas. If you have the baby in Ireland before you land, your PR visa would become invalid because your family composition has changed. If that is your plan, you would either have to ask the visa office to delay your visas because you want to have the baby before you go or you go and land and then return back. If the baby is born in Ireland after you land, you would have to sponsor it for PR. Because the baby is visa exempt, you would take it to Canada on an Irish passport and sponsor when you arrive.

That's great thank you so much we want to get over as soon as we can. That's a great relief i can't imagine bringing my son and a new baby on a long flight on myown.
Thanks again :)
