the midwife program is PAID BY THE PROVINCE, so it does not matter if they have health card or not, their simply too busy, people are put on the list when they know their pregnant.

When we called Midwife they asked for Health Card and said if we dont have one then they will not take us witout health card. So they do ask for health card in Alberta, i dont know about other provinces.

Any way by the grace of God, MY STRESSFUL DAYS ARE OVER in this regard. I went to registry here explained the situation, they asked for my wife's passport, checked the visa stamp and and accepted to issue the health card and gave us health card number right awy. :)

In Alberta there are independent registries where u go to apply for health card. no hospital registry.

well, if the baby is born on Canada then your government in canada can help you about health queries.. try to visit the government office that is assigned on health of the people.
