Dear Members,

Im new to this forum.....Need your expert advice on this issue. I received my ITA in the draw held on 22 Dec 2016. Will be proceeding with submission of documents and application by 13th of Feb (the only item remaining is our Medical which is scheduled in the coming week). We just got to know that my wife is 2 weeks pregnant :), how does this change/affect my application? Can i still proceed as it is?

TIA

It can delay your process as medical is still left. She would either need to use an apron for the xray or wait until delivery for the xray.

Are you ok with your wife undergoing a chest X-ray while she is pregnant? (Not recommended). If you guys are comfortable with undergoing the X-ray, then there is no effect on your application. You can proceed as it is.

However, if you wont do the chest X-ray for the wife, then the doctor will do all the rest of the tests but will defer your wife's chest X-ray. You can submit your application along with an LOE stating that your wife is pregnant and that the chest X-ray will be completed once the baby is born. Then your application will basically go into cold storage for 9 or so months and ultimately when your wife undergoes a chest X-ray after the birth of your child will then your application proceed.

If after consultation with our doctor we go ahead with the xray and complete the medical and our application how long does it usually take from this stage?

Usual processing of application is 6 months.

Why dont ircc exclude requirement for x ray for pragnant woman? Its a new thing for me.. My wife is also pregnant.. Is there any other way to get through the medicals??

A lead apron.

A pregnant woman could still have TB and could therefore infect people in Canada. If they are willing to forfeit this requirement and risk then why not others? Why test for HIV? Remember, you are applying to Canada, they don't need you, so they set whatever terms they want.
