Hi there,

My PR will expire in June 2015.

I was in Montreal with my husband in May 2010 to March 2011. We completed 330 days.

Now we want to come back but stay in Ontario and complete our 400 days inorder to renew our PR.

Please kindly let me know if we can fly directly to Toronto and complete the 400 days???

What document shall we need as there might be lots of questions from the immigration office.

Thanks
Daisy

The 400 days must be completed before the 5th anniversary of your "landing" date. Ignore the expiry date on the PR card. My guess is that you would need to be back by 1st April at the very latest, possibly a little bit sooner.

Re: Can we settle in Toronto instead of Montreal

Thank you for the prompt reply.

My question include also if i can settle in Toronto rather than going to Montreal again??? When we will renew the PR in Toronto in 2015, will it cause a problem at the immigration office?

Awaiting

I can't see any reason why it should be a problem.

The charter of rights and freedoms states that a citizen or PR may live and work in any province.

A conclusive answer would be based on knowing:

1. Is your spouse a Canadian Citizen?

2. If yes was this status held during any time you were absent?

3. If no to 1 then is he a PR and if so was he working for a Canadian Business or the military, federal, province?

4. What class/scheme did you get PR under - QSW, Investor etc?
