PR validity till Passport Validity

Hi Seniors,

I will be using my current passport which expires in 03/2018.
I don't have time to get passport renewed within 30 days.
My PR mail says -> "We are unable to issue a visa beyond the expiry date in your passport. Your passport must be valid for at least six months."

I will be travelling 07/2016.
I don't know what is the policy of PR extension once i renew my passport when i am in Canada.
Will my PR get extended to cover 5 years?

They're talking about your visa for your initial entry to Canada. You won't need this visa once you have landed. After that, you will get a PR card which allows you to travel in and out of Canada.

Your PR status is not dependent on the expiry date of your passport.

I got it now.
The visa is only for going to Canada so that you can go there and be there till your PR card gets ready.
Once PR card is issued, its valid for 5 years. And is not impacted when your passport is reissued.

Hi Lovesumi,

I am also in similiar situtation. I have received Passport request email on 08/04/2019. It also has same details "We are unable to issue a visa beyond the expiry date in your passport.. Your passport must be valid for at least six months".

My passport expires on 22 September,2019.

Do i need to renew and send both passport to vfs?
or
can i getting stamping done on my current passport and once i land in canada get my Passport renewed?

Could you please advise?
