I have a question for a friend. Can a sponsored spouse who is under the 2 year conditional sponsorship, must live with spouse, travel back the their home country for more than a couple weeks a month or so, without their sponsoring spouse joining them? thanks and have a good day.

The answer is yes. To wit, "Aside from the need to satisfy the two-year requirement, conditional permanent residence does not differ from normal permanent residence."

Also: {information for Sponsored Spouses or Partners}

Your rights upon receiving conditional permanent residence, you have all the rights and privileges of a permanent resident:

You are allowed to work or study in Canada without a work or study permit.
You have access to health coverage and social services.
You are allowed to leave and re-enter Canada.

The debate will be the term, "cohabitation." Does "co-habitation" mean the Sponsor and the PA always have to be together? The answer is no. You can maintain the relationship even when the Sponsor and the PA are not physically together as long as it is within a reasonable time period. In fact, I know of friends (and people from this forum) who landed and quickly went back to their countries of origin to tie loose ends. When they went back to Canada, there was no issue, no questions asked. So generally, the answer is yes.

Conditional sponsorship doesn't make u a prisoner or your sponsor's shadow. You can still live your own life.
