Hi Friends,

In how much time does CANADA grant citizenship to a PR candidate? :D

Please suggest.

Thanks,
SIDHU

Once you become a PR, you must live in Canada for 3 out of 4 years to qualify to apply for citizenship. You can count up to 2 years of the time before you became a PR towards this residency requirement. However days you lived in Canada before you became a PR are only counted as half days for citizenship residency purposes.

In theory 3 out of 4 years but practically they will take more time. The government will prolong your citizenship and in a way force you to be here physically and spend money. There is a very good chance the government has caught on to the fact that people are coming here only for the citizenship only and take off once they get it. Again this is just my opinion based on the fact that what is written is not really what is followed in real life.
