Hello,
i think my case is not uncommon but i haven't found clear advice in posts here.
We received our PR in FEB 2009 with expiry in MARCH 2014. Because of poor timing of my application, our jobs and green card status in the US, we have not been fulfilling our residency obligations (2/5 years in country). We have been going as tourists for a few weeks but nothing of substance.
Because of our young daughter, we will also not be able to be moving there within the next 2 years.
My questions:
1) Is there any way to extend the PR expiry from outside the country- without having fulfilled any of the obligations (this may be a very naive question)?
2) If not, is it smarter to formally "give up" PR before our expiry date or simply let it run out- in order to maximize our chances of a later, new application process?
thanks for any pointers,
