I am a Canadian Citizen living in Montreal. My spouse is a Permanent Resident. He'd had his PR card since 2006. His current PR card will expire in 2015. The reason he hasn't applied for citizenship yet is because his home country (Norway) doesn't allow dual citizenship. As things stand, we will be moving to the US soon as I have found employment there. My spouse will be accompanying me. How will this move effect his PR status in Canada? Will he lose it and then start from scratch when we return to Canada? Or is there a way to retain his PR status while I work and live in the US?
