Hi all, first time poster
My wife is a US citizen and will be in Canada for a total of two years this coming autumn, we got married in Canada. We were planning on applying for her PR right after her visa extension was approved and have all the paperwork ready to go.
Reading through the PR spousal paperwork it has similar requests as the visa relating to my work, how much I make, do I have steady employment etc. This was all a okay, we were just about to apply for the PR after the visa (been with my current company for 6 years) and about two weeks in to waiting for the visa extension I found out the division of the company I work for will be closing in about 4 months. I already have work lined up for after that happens in case in company transfers don't manifest but I guess my question is:
Will this effect our PR application significantly? Should we just go ahead and apply since I have work lined up for afterwards? From my understanding if the paperwork is out of date (IE my employer has changed during processing) it would be declined. She's eager to finally get her PR in the works and start working but this kind of puts a wrench in things from what I understand of it. Would it be best to keep doing an extension or two while I work under the new employer before applying? If so how many months would be recommended before then?
I apologize for all the questions, but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and greatly appreciate any insight
