I received my PR card in Jun 2019. It expires in Jun 2024 . We did a soft landing in Canada in 2019 to receive our PR cards and returned to India. After that, due to covid and other personal reasons, we were not in a position to go to Canada.
Now I have got a job opportunity and I am planning to take it up and settle in Canada. However, even if I travel immediately and stay till the expiry of PR (12th Jun 2024), I would be spending less than 730 days in Canada. That would mean I am not fulfilling the residency obligation of 730 days before the PR expires.
So, the question is, what would be the process of PR renewal in this case? Do I have to go through the whole process again, or regular PR renewal process would work? Or is there some other process to be followed?

Awaiting your inputs.
Thanks

You renew once you meet RO even if PR card expires. Just don’t leave Canada until you meet RO.

Thanks for the quick reply.
One more follow up question. Would there be any enquiry at the airport when we land, particularly because only approximately 1 year and 3 months are left for the PR card expiry?

Probably. YOu'll need to explain why you didn't come early (whatever reasons apply to you). They may or may not just wave you through.
