I have a question: my wife who is a permenant residant is going to sponser me for immigration. As she has been studying here in our hometown, she will start residing in canada in two weeks time and her PR card validity will be expired in a year or so.
does immigration cares about her status and the minimum number of days she should have lived in canada, at this point? or that would only be the issue when she wants to renew her PR?

She has to reside in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) of each 5 year period in order to maintain her permanent status . . . so, if she has already exceeded three years away, her status might be questioned when she tries to come back - even though her PR card is not yet expired. It could also look like she only came back in order to facilitate sponsoring you - that neither of you have any intention of actually settling in Canada but only want status here. She could be found ineligible to sponsor and, if that happens, you're also an ineligible applicant. Subject of your thread sorta says it all, IMHO.
