Hi,

I heard that IRCC is prioritizing applications for essential services workers who worked in the COVID period. I work at a bank when banks were deemed to be essential service. We didn’t close during the covid instead we were in the frontlines helping customers and giving advice to ensure Canadians have access to basic banking during the pandemic. Does this qualify as an essential service therefore process for us would be faster?

Thanks in advance

Financial services / banks are not on the list of IRCC priority occupations. The priority occupations relate to health care, transport and food / agriculture.

Priority occupations are getting faster work permits processed. I'm not aware that IRCC is processing PR faster for these occupations (although I could be wrong).

There was talk of it but that’s gone quiet lately. I suspect nothing will change in that regard.

I am a nurse sponsering my husband from China. Our application was received May 2019. Deined dec 2019. We applied for Our appeal jan 19/2020 and our hearing date is sept 25/2020. We hired a lawyer for our appeal. My 13 yr old daughter is our witness. Don't know if my being an essential worker without childcare will be even a consideration. But there's hoping....

I think it's only for the health care isn't ?

Unfortunately I am Canadian. The sponser. No it doesn't apply to me even though Im appealing the case.
You are posting in the wrong section. If the sponsorship of your spouse was denied you’ll need to go through the appeal process. Don’t believe that needing help with childcare will get you help with appeal. TRV won’t be granted if there is concerns about your relationship.
