Hi all!

My husband (principal applicant) and I (sponsor) are planning to submit an application for permanent residency soon. We've compiled all of our various proofs and documents, and are working on getting them ready in an appropriate format to submit. My husband's worried about playing around in the PR Portal and potentially getting documents "locked in" before we're ready to submit, which means he's reluctant to test this ourselves. As such, I'm hoping someone else might know the answer: how many separate documents can you upload under the Proof of Relationship to Sponsor category of the additional supporting documents?

We haven't been able to format all the evidence we need to submit as a single file under 4MB without the image quality getting compressed to pretty much illegible, so I'm hoping we can submit a few separate files instead of needing to remove some of the proofs...

We just submitted today after going through all that... there is a limit of ten files per category. Because of that we combined photos into one document (which was very hard to get under the file size limit). I was going to put the 20 photos into 4 different files, but my spouse instead put them all into one, and the quality was disappointing but not so bad that the agent will think they're fake! We did notice that under the different categories of additional supporting documents, there is "Proof of Relationship" and "Proof of Relationship to Sponsor", so conceivably you could use both categories and you'd have up to 20 files. By the way there is no issue with files getting locked in. You can easily delete files at any time right up to submitting.

Wait until you try to upload proof of visits - it was a fun quest combining all the tickets / bookings / other proofs from 10 different trips into some meaningful files and writing explanations to all of them :)

The portal system (and 10 files per category) is weird, and figuring out how to group all the files is a task with (I assume) no definite right answer

10 files per category is a huge relief! Thank you both so much. It's not going to be fun to divide everything up across files, but at least we've already gone through the hassle of documenting our proofs by category and writing up the explanations, so now it'll just be a matter of copy-pasting and merging PDFs until they fit (sigh).

Oh man, I didn't bother with air ticket receipts. I figured my passport stamps, and photos of us together in ten different trips to my spouse's home country would be enough. And this morning I realized that a page I had copied from my airBnB booking history, to show that I had booked rooms in my spouse's country half a dozen times corresponding with dates I was there, hadn't made it into the application (submitted yesterday). Don't you think passport stamps and photos will be enough to prove that I was actually there?

It should be more than fine, or worst case they will ask for extra proofs.

As far as I understand, all these proofs are required to make the case stronger and they are carefully inspected when there is not enough clear evidence that the relationship is real. I also had to figure out how to only select 20 photos and linked a lot of instagram posts / reels to the description of each of them as we are as public as humanly possible lol, plus attached several pages of passport overfilled with stamps from her country. I'm sure you should be fine :)
