Hey Everyone,

I've been contacting few consultants regarding spousal immigration and everybody got different advices that I am so confused right now.
Can someone please suggest me which one to go for first:

- Apply for my spouse's PR and then file a Visitor visa using that file number?
OR
-Apply for a visitor visa and then file PR with inland process?
OR
- Keep it simple and just file PR and no visitor visa because according to some consultants it causes complications.

PLEASE HELP. thank you

My assumption is that you are married as you have said "spouse"

If your spouse has never had a TRV for Canada it would be best to apply for the PR visa first then a couple months later apply for the TRV using the File number you received for the PR visa.

In my case, we applied for a visitor visa for my Mexican wife after we had gotten married, but before we applied for PR. It was refused. CIC essentially believes your spouse is high risk for overstaying in Canada on a TRV, because you are married, so they deny the visa.

Applying for the TRV after PR application shows them that you are a serious applicant and are prepared to undergo the scrutiny and vetting out that comes with the PR application, and, you are far less likely to put your PR application in jeopardy by overstaying on a visit to Canada. You can apply as many times as you like if denied, it will not affect your PR application while in process. Some applied 4 times before being approved for TRV.

As for your keep it simple option, it's up to you. If you are together then sure, keep it simple. We did. Having said that, I don't think it will cause complications.

Good Luck!

Hi CANzanillo,
My wife's PR application was received on June 28th and today i got AOR1 and Application Number.
I am planning to apply for TRV for my wife (who's in India).
What do you suggest ? Should I wait till SA Approval ? or Can I apply now.

Thanks in advance.
