PR or Sponsor Wife? Confused?

I'm planning to apply for PR and shift to Canada. I'm a software engineer with 10+ exp. I have a doubt regarding taking PR. Should I apply PR for my wife along with me or me finding a job there and then applying for sponsorship. Which is best?

I'm pretty sure if you apply for PR you can also put your wife in the application so she gets PR also. I'm not 100% sure but I think that's how it works. That would make more sense than you going to Canada as a PR and then sponsoring your wife because that can take up to a year.
