Canadian citizen sponsoring my American spouse for PR in Canada.
We just received a letter telling us to submit his passport, either in person at Buffalo or by mail, before July 15, 2012. "The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada appears complete."
However, above this standard letter is this message:
"NOTE: An email request was sent for your passport submission on January 10, 2012, to which no reply was received. Your medical examination result has expired. [FYI it expired on March 23, 2012.] We are requesting an extension from Ottawa. If the extension cannot be granted, you will be sent a new medical examination form."
(FYI we never received this email, even though the application had our correct address and he checks his email all day long. Also, there was no indication that a request for info had been sent on the Immigration Status page we check each Tuesday.)
Just wondering:
1) Should he still go to Buffalo with his passport? He won't get turned away, will he?
2) Is he likely to get an extension on the medical report? His first test in LA was a nightmare and this is causing him a lot of stress, plus we don't want to have to pay for another seeing as they only sent us an email (which I think was incorrectly addressed).
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
