Hi All,

My wife and son are Canadian citizens.

My PR was approved however it expires in June '23. We will immigrate around September '23. I need to enter Canada prior to June '23 which is fine.

My question is, Do I need to enter with my wife (Canadian Citizen) or can I do the trip to Canada solo to get my PR?

Note: Prior to re-entry I will get a PRTD as I am not expecting my PR card to be ready.

Thanks for your help!

Alternatively, if you are driving, you don't need a PRTD and use your expired COPR (which expired in June ' 23) for re-entry.

Thanks for the reply Steaky,

I did consider that (and will do if need be) but would prefer to fly into Canada. The VFS in Australia said the PRTD only takes a couple of weeks.

Do you know if I can do my first trip to activate the PR solo?
