Hi,
I am an international student pursuing 2 year food science technology program in Toronto. Am I eligible to apply for a PR if I have 1 year experience as a fast food restaurant manager after my course in my work permit period? If so under what category will I be eligible? I have 2.7 years of experience in the field of IT..will it be helpful? Please help me clarify this.
Thanks.

Hi, I suggest you to check Express Entry and International students forums.

CEC
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp
Did you get 1 year experience during your student permit?

Most probably it's partial time so, probably, is not enough yet.
Position NOC should be B at least, check the link.

FSW/FST
Perhaps your previous experience qualifies you for one of this classes.

I recommend you to Create a EE profile and see if you qualifies. You'll need a English Test (general, no student).

If you want ONLY to check it use some CLB 7 values for the English test questions, but be aware to refuse Invitations, if granted; also remove the profile after a while.

If you qualifies for some class you also need to get a good score and that's complicated for International Students, PNP could help in some cases, you need to dig on it.

If you can apply for PR through any class or apply thought PNP, you should do it ASAP to avoid future rules changes

Note that you'll apply after graduate for a PGWP which should allow you to work here for 3 years, adding experience and having time for PNP applications.

Be careful with your PGWP application, some people get it refused due to avoidable mistakes: Apply as soon you graduates, get proper school certificates and letter stating date when you finished, pay right fees, better have passport validity longer than 3 years....

Just a quick note - it's important to realize that you cannot use work experience gained while in full-time studies to apply under CEC. See here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=377&top=29

So you have to wait for your PGWP and get 1 year full time job at least
