Dear all,

We have now received our confirmation of our permanent residence status and are planning to come over for few days in a few weeks time.

I do have few concerns and I thought you may be able to guide me.

1-Could we only stay for 48 hours and give immigration an address where they can send our PR card

2-While waiting for the card to arrive to London, could I fly back and forth from London to Toronto?

Thank you

1 - Should not be an issue.
2 - You will need to obtain a PRTD to fly from London to Toronto before you have your PR card. Alternatively, you can fly to the US and re-enter Canada through a land border using a private vehicle.

Dear Scylla,

Thank you for that

2-Even if I book a return flight and only stay in Canada for 48 hours? Just visiting with my passport and my ETA?

Yes - even if you only stay for 48 hours.

Your ETA is no longer valid now that you are a PR. You need either a valid PR card or PRTD (PR Travel Document) to fly to Canada directly.

Please update on your situation, if you could travel without a PR card. I am also Australian citizen and did my travel to Toronto on Oct 27th but had to return home. Now I am planning to visit with my family for their entry but am still waiting for my PR Card. Question : can I fly using my Aussie passport without a PR card or make an entry via US border. Appreciate anyones experience and recommendation. Thanks

If you are already PR and don't have PR card, the airline staff won't let you on the plane in Australia. You can enter US then drive to Canada on a private vehicle, since PR card is not needed at land borders

Just drive and you don't need PR card or plane ticket between London and Toronto.
