Hi,

I received confirmation of permenant residence a few weeks ago. I went to the border to see an immigration officer and to sign the confirmation of permenant residence. I would like to ask next steps.

1. Will I get the PR card mailed in automatically or I need to apply for it?

2. I have SIN starting with "9". My understanding is to visit Service Canada location with the signed confirmation of permenant residence and get a new SIN. Is this right?

3. When is the landing date? Is the date when I went to the border and signed the confirmation of permenant residence?

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your PR.

1. You will get it automatically in the mail. Currently taking around 10 weeks.

2. Yes, that is right.

3. Yes, that is your landing date. Take good care of your landing documents and keep good records of dates you travel from and to Canada from now on. You will need that when it is time to renew your PR card or if you want to apply for citizenship.
