Hi everyone,

I have a canadian PR, because my husband is a canadian citizen. However, I have a good job abroad that I dont intend to leave for around 3 years. My husband lives in canada, and I want to know if there is a way my years can be counted while I am working. For example, if I have good money in canada bank, paying taxes,...etc.
Thanks,

Your residency obligation can be met without being in Canada if:

A) You are living overseas *with* your Canadian spouse
OR
B) you are posted overseas *from* Canada, *by* a Canadian company.

Well, then you may lose P/R. Should you do so, you can likely be responsored.

You should be fine -- just as long as you've been in Canada for two full years right now, go take your job, and instead of making it 'around' three years, make it 'just under' three years. Or, alternately, assuming that you get some vacation, take all of it in Canada, which will extend your working period by the amount of time that you get off. Keep careful documentation, keep your airline travel evidence, make sure that you re-enter Canada just before three years are up, and you'll be welcomed back with a smile on the face of the CIC agent.
