Hi Peeps!

I am due to land in Canada sometime this year and planning to stay for 4 weeks and return to work in the UK.

My Question is" I plan to get my PR card posted to me in the UK after I have left ,by a family member. But I am hearing the PR office are now issuing the cards in person rather than posting it to the landing address. Can any senior member clarify if this is the rule now?
All are welcome to comment....Thanks for your audience.

just a rumer.normally u get the new cards in mail.
If your application is properly completed and you meet the requirements for a permanent resident card , you will receive your card in the mail or a letter from CIC advising you of when and where to pick up your PR card.http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/apply-after.asp

Thanks a bunch Karwa Sach!! Hopefully, nothing has changed since this was published. Apparently, When your card is ready, it will be either mailed out to you or randomly selected for in-person pick up at the local office. Just hoping it is mailed to me.

Thanks once again!

u r welcome ;) ;)

PR cards are sometimes issued in person and it's necessary to go to the office in person for pick up. However this only applies to PR card renewals - not to initial PR cards.

Thanks Scylla! Mine is an initial application and hopefully it will be posted.

if this is true, its because Canada is not being able to keep its PR holders due to its bad economy and no availability of jobs for the immigrants.
No one has time and money to toss around with his luck looking for jobs for years and ending up in bulk of loans.

Reason for coming back to work in the UK is: I have a very well paid and satisfactory job and will only give that up if a company is prepared to at least match my current contract. But generally speaking, I think the standard of living is far better in Canada.

My Friends say the other way. They say UK is much better than Canada.
UK has no influx of immigrants and there are jobs available.
better medical care.
in Canada doctors treat you fast only if they seen you in bleeding or suffocating after a severe heart attack.

UK has much less jobless rate than Canada.

The UK is part of the European Union and as such anyone from ANY EU country can walk into the UK and take UK jobs without needing a visa.

I am from the UK and trust me "no influx of immigrants" is completely untrue. And, unlike Canada, the UK cannot control the number of immigrants coming into the country from the European Union.

The UK is also an over-populated country. It has literally twice the population of Canada with 1/40th of the size.

As of Sep 2012 the UK employment rate was 7.8% of its labor force:

The highest Canada has been in the last 12 months is 7.4% of its labor force, and is currently 7.1%:

Therefore I believe your statement that "UK has much less jobless rate than Canada" is completely wrong. It has a higher percentage of its labor force unemployed, with the added problem that it cannot fully control its immigration, unlike Canada.

Well I do get quite a negative feeling from his posts towards Canada. And his posts do seem to be factually incorrect.
