PR Card Requirements

Hello Friends

I was PRed last year (2012). However,i am still in US on H1B and plan to finally move to Canada this summer .

Question : Although i completed Landing formalities last year,however i did not get PR Card. I am going to Canada for a short trip in next couple of months. What all do i need to have for getting PR Card? I can give my friend's address in Canada for delivery,but i do i need to show proof of residence in Canada for it ?

If you arrive in Canada less than 6 months after you landed, you can phone CIC and give them the address you are staying at and ask them to send your card there.

If it's more than 6 months, you will have to apply for a PR card for which you need new photos and $50. You do not have to prove you are living in Canada.

What documents need i show on for PR Card ?I am going through the official PR Card Link and one of the requirements is below . I have COPR,but i dont have any other document besides that.f

Two (2) secondary identity documents

A copy of two of the following:

your Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
or
your valid provincial driver’s license or valid provincial photo-identity card
or
your valid University/College photo student card
or
your most recently issued Income Tax assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency
Additional documents of proof of residence in Canada in the past five (5) years

Include the following with your application:

Photocopies of all pages of all passports you held in the past five (5) years (if your stamps are not in English or French, please have them translated, see section on Translation of documents), and
A copy of one of the following:

Other Income Tax assessments issued by Canada Revenue Agency within the past five (5) years, or
transcripts from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada verifying attendance within the past five (5) years or
for all school-aged children, written records verifying attendance within the past five (5) years.
If you are unable to provide two secondary identity documents or proof of residence as described above, include a signed and dated statutory declaration clearly explaining the reasons why.

You will have to try to apply for a drivers license using your passport and COPR.

You don't have to worry much about proving your residency in the past 5 years because you are a new PR so it would be impossible for you to be in breach of the residency requirements yet.
