My PR card expires again late next year - and will likely complete the renewal application in the new year.
My question is related to the 'collection/delivery' process of the PR card.
Last time I had to visit the local office here in Calgary to collect my card - I was expecting to simply collect it and be on my way. However, instead, was led into a crowded 'classroom' with several hundred other people also renewing their card. Many of these people didn't speak English, had poor personal hygiene and it felt like a human zoo with no personal space. I was in there for hours whilst waiting for my name to be randomly called out.
Once called out, I was then interrogated by a rude woman sitting at the front desk - who eventually and reluctantly gave me my card. Meanwhile my parking had expired and was greeted with a nice fine (I only put on a hour -- could it really take any longer I thought!)
Does anybody know if this derogatory cattle-like process of card collection is still happening in Calgary, or do they do it in a more effective way (like mailing, perhaps?).
