Yes from GC Key portal once I was able to link my application

New update: finally I was able to link the application on the GCkey account today. (I wasn't able to yesterday)

Applied to renew my pr card online via the PR portal.

Date submitted : September 17th

Status ID moved from '16' to '20' and says 'completed' (from 'browser debug' details), within the PR portal, today i.e. October 10th.

Was able to link my application on the IRCC secure account today and view the application # & status.
It says : "Final decision - October 10, 2025: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made"

No email or any messages in the account from IRCC though.
I'm assuming i just wait till it randomly shows up in the mailbox ? - whenever Canada Post gets to it based on the latest partial/rotating strike news from yesterday + Thanksgiving long weekend

I think they are just holding the PR cards until the Canada Post strike situation is all figured out. Now, with the latest update, I wonder if they will start handing the cards to Canada Post. Once they do, we may see another update in GCKey indicating that the card has been mailed out.

Fair enough. We're all just guessing until we actually hear from someone who gets their card/email/message (specifically someone whose status changed to '20'/'final decision made', post October 1st).

I'll post an update here, if & when I actually get an email/message in the account, or just find the card in the mailbox.


Random/off topic question : When you say 'GCKey' (I see this is many posts by people) - Are you referring to the 'IRCC Secure Acct', where one 'links' the application to check status/receive messages ?

Yes GCKey is same as the IRCC Secure account. I will post my update too. I got the final decision made message on Sep 25th and nothing after that.

I was able to add an application to my GCkey. But the application shows all details from 5 years ago when I last time renewed the PR card. Should I expect a new application and application number or that is the one? so confused...

It was the same for me, i saw only my original PR application with a date from many years ago when i attempted to link it.

That is..... until today when i noticed that status id changed from '16' to '20'.
I tried to link it again and the new one showed up as a separate line item with a new application #

Thanks for sharing. My case is strange. The status was changed to 20 last Friday, but I still can't link the application with my GCkey.

So i called IRCC this morning and got through to a rep.

I asked if my application is complete and if my card will be mailed to me. They said, my local office was already informed to print my pr card and will email me to pick it up in person. Still waiting on the email.

Did anyone receive their card? I submitted on Sep 6th. The Ctr Shift i trick shows me that the application was updated on Oct 1 but I still haven't received anything. And I couldn't link my application to GCKey either.

I called rep today and they told due to technical issues many people pr card printing production was stopped and high chances that it will delay .
My status id changed to 20 on 25 sept and i went deeper to check other stuff and in array drop down it say photo were rejected due lager size and etc. dont know how true that is , because rep didnt mentioned anything like that . He said its in production since then and no comment were made to submit new pictures .
Anyone in same situation?

Entirely possible but i've heard some people are receiving their cards (not sure if initial PR card or for a renewal) in their mailbox over the past few days, despite IRCC telling them they will get an email to pick it up in person from a local office. I was told i would get a 'pick up in person email' as well when i called in last week.

So honestly not sure what to say, but looks like a lot of incorrect info/mixed messages is what we're getting from the reps in general, since this strike started. I'm guessing their operating procedures got complicated/changed around multiple times within a short span due to the strike situation and maybe that's whats causing this confusion.

So everybody should check their mailbox regularly and be patient unless you have an urgent situation, i guess.


But specific to the photo rejection part : I would check with others (make a separate post if you haven't already) who've experienced this.

right know my only concern is if photo is accepted or rejected , because when i uploaded my pic with adjusted contract as needed the system said its accepted while filling out application . But now on inspect page details its say rejected, i guess that might be standard system generated thing in inspect mode .thought updatedAt say 20 and a date .
I am travelling on 3rd nov . So dont know if in case they ask for new picture, i can upload it from outside Canada or i need to be in canada .
