Hi, in my home country we do not have last names at birth. That also reflects in what we call a National Identity Card (NIC).
Example:
Passport(current)/PR card: Mary Louis(given names), Dreyfus(last/family name)
Birth Cert/NIC: Mary Louis no last/family name
The first time I travelled abroad was as dependent and had to add my Dad's name as a last name was required. This was fine for decades in subsequent passports and for Canadian PR application(no legal change document, just affidavit, LOE, citizen sibling proof).
Current passport I have is from 2016 and it's time for a new one (expires Feb 2021).
Now between 2016 and now, there seems to be a new rule from home country where my passport name needs to match my National Identity Card/Birth Certificate name. To make a new one.
They will probably force me to use my NIC/Birth name.
Can anyone please advise me what do, given the current situation I will not be travelling out of Canada any time soon but at some point, I know that I will because I have family back home.
Thank you!
